Directed by François Truffaut99 minDrama

For young Parisian boy Antoine Doinel, life is one difficult situation after another. Surrounded by inconsiderate adults, including his neglectful parents, Antoine spends his days with his best friend, Rene, trying to plan for a better life. When one of their schemes goes awry, Antoine ends up in trouble with the law, leading to even more conflicts with unsympathetic authority figures.

It hurts to admit this but I think I don’t have the attention span to enjoy old black and white foreign films. I force myself to watch them sometimes and they’re good, but I just find them so boring. Never watched one in the cinema though where I physically couldn’t turn it off, but yeah I haven’t been that bored in a cinema since I watched Ad Astra.  This film did help me get better at my Japanese, not because it has anything to do with Japan, just because I was so bored I was practicing in my head, so at least I now know that I just wasted ku juu ku minutes of my life.  It wasn’t a terrible film, the protagonist was sort of interesting and there was some nice cinematography, it was just so slow and nothing really happened.  If you are a fan of old French films I’d ignore this whole review because I don’t really know what I’m talking about, but it just wasn’t for me really. And though I was bored a lot there were certain parts of it that I did find interesting so I’ve definitely watched worse films, but this wasn’t particularly bad or good, it was just forgettable and a little bit of a waste of time. But I got to see it at the cinema so I don’t really regret it. 4.7/10
