This film broke me half way through. Really scary and emotional tale of a mother and sons relationship in some awful circumstances.
The kid, Jacob Tremblay, did really well and so did Brie Larson. Both gave very convincing and emotional performances. My favourite scene is when they were reunited in the police car.
Seeing Jack learn about the world, and try and comprehend how big it was having spent his whole life in one room and only seeing the outside from his tv and his skylight was really interesting. I loved the little voiceovers he had where he would talk about how he viewed the world, and it would change more and more every time he learnt something new.
Didn’t love the second half of the film as much, it was interesting to see the characters adapt to the new situation, but I felt like it went a little too far and I didn’t feel like everything was resolved. Would have been nice to get some closure between her and her dad, but I guess all that mattered in the end was her and her son made up and I did really love the scene where she apologised to him as Brie Larson's acting was very good.
Need to watch a happier film next, too many sad films.
