Woah. I’ve never seen a film anything like this before, very impressive and unique. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a film from a kid’s perspective filmed as well as this, may be the best film about bullying and even sibling relationships I’ve ever seen.
The main kid is a really good actor, can’t believe they were able to act that well at such a young age. The camera sticks with them the whole time, with some really long takes just of their face where they show so much emotion, it’s honestly quite impressive.
The whole film is filmed from the height of a kid, the only time we go up to the height of an adult is when she climbs up to them, we relate to them more than any adult in this and I just think it’s a perfect way to show the brutality of schools and what kids go through. Kids can be so cruel and this really shows that, but even the main character can be quite cruel at times, but it’s all out of self preservation and seeing it all from her perspective was quite an experience.
The relationship between her and her brother is really interesting as well, it feels so real and scary, as you view it all through the innocence of a child, it makes you feel so powerless and it’s terrifying, very anxiety inducing.
The final shot had me tearing up a little too, I loved the ending. This is one of the most unique films I’ve seen in a while, though some of the long takes did start to bore me a little, it was all very well done and I think it was a really good film.
I would recommend.
