Not at all what I expected, mostly because when I think of Frances McDormand I think of her laughing “I think that midget wants to get in my pants”, swearing and burning down police stations in 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. This film was way calmer, she plays a shy, sweet old lady who shits in buckets. This film felt so real and personal, the cinematography was really good and it has a nice soundtrack. The story was kinda boring yet sweet, I fell asleep first time I tried to watch it and had to try again, but I think that’s mostly coz of how slow paced and natural it is. The dialogue was quite good and so was the acting, it all felt so naturalistic and was one of the highlights of the film for me. Not my favourite film of 2020, I’m pretty sure it won a golden globe, but I still think sound of metal deserves the Oscar, I really don’t have anything bad to say about this film though other than it’s boring and not much happens.  7.3/10
