King Richard is based on the true story of the lives of two young girls from Compton named Venus and Serena Williams and their dad Richard Williams. Not gonna lie before watching the trailer I had no idea who these girls were but apparently they’re like a big deal in tennis or something. But this film isn’t just about tennis, it’s about a dad who wants his girls to be successful and goes about it in a very forceful and strict way. It’s about whether this man is a crazy person or if he’s a genius, and based on where Google tells me Venus and Serena are now, I guess he’s a genius. I only saw this film because Will Smith's acting looked really good in the trailer, and it didn’t disappoint, his character was very interesting and of course the acting was great. Serina and Venus were also good, but I feel like will smith overshadowed them in a way that made them seem like less important characters when I think the film should have been a little more about them. But Richard was great, it’s a very interesting true story and it’s emotional, has a great ending and has some pretty intense moments in Compton. I enjoyed it, it looks like 2021 suddenly has a lot of good films. I do feel like somewhere around the middle the film slowed down and became a bit repetitive, but I liked the ending, it wasn’t as predictable as I predicted, and it almost made me cry.  7.6/10
