“What’s the verb for being a lesbian”
That’s not actually a quote from the film it was in the bloopers, I just thought it was funny. A quote from the actual film would go a little like this.
“I didn’t actually have a penis, I just wanted to show him my vagina, is that weird?”
Jesus Christ.
I don’t wanna be too harsh on this film, as it was clearly very low budget and independent. But if I’m being honest I don’t think there’s many nice things I can say about it. I think the homeless guy was an ok ish character and he had a nice ending, but was played by quite a bad actor. There were some decent songs, but I got kinda sick of the music pretty quickly. It was also kinda nice to see some of the locations in Brighton I see a lot in person in the film.
Ok…. Main girl was a terribly written character, not a good actress, her main struggle as a character was she didn’t become famous after doing one open mic. Bit stuck up to expect the whole bar of busy people who aren’t there to see you to fall in love with you after one song. It didn’t wrap up what the whole film was supposed to be about. The last reference to her music is she busks for a day and makes £50. It feels like the film didn’t care about the whole music storyline, it just used it as a shitty plot device and as a way to have all the characters play the soundtrack.
The roommate was a weirdo, waking her up like that. Also wasn't in it enough, really useless character. Not a good actor but probably the best actor in this film after Jamie Patterson himself.
Harry was an awful actor and his character felt really creepy, didn’t like him.
The homeless guy actually was maybe the closest this film has to a good character, but like every other character in this film he just felt like a bit of a weirdo.
The cinematography in this film stood out to me straight away as being terrible. So many really uncomfortable close up shots or just really questionable shots that almost made me laugh. The audio mixing was also kinda bad and sometimes the audio was too quiet and I found it hard to follow what was going on.
The ending sucked, I would have preferred if she ended up with the homeless guy, made out with a guy she’d had one previous conversation with and the film ends, really boring ending.
Really bad film. But made in 2011.
1.0/10
Thought of something else. It genuinely wasn’t that hard to watch. It wasn’t good, but at no point did I wanna turn it off for any reason other than the fact it’s nearly 6am and I’m really tired. So I guess it could have been worse.
All just my opinion though I’m sure it took a lot of time and effort to make a film like this and I do respect that. I can see people enjoying it but it wasn’t for me personally.
