I really enjoyed this. The plot was described to me pretty poorly by my friend and I was expecting this to be a wholesome family film and it was kinda the opposite, but it still was in an entirely different way than I expected, a film about a family.  Was lucky enough to see a Q and A with the director (not in person obviously), I’ve had masterclasses before that felt really similar but never been to a proper q&a before and it was a really nice experience. I’ve never seen anything by the director before but I instantly like him a lot and will definitely be watching shoplifters and some of his other films soon.  My friend I watched this with was bawling their eyes out at the end and I can’t say it got me that much, but it was a very emotional film and I did find myself tearing up a little towards the end.  The characters were really interesting, I love the relationship between the mother who abandoned her kid and the guy who was abandoned as a kid, seeing their relationship develop and seeing the guy find a little bit of closure with his own mother because of her was really well done and probably my favourite aspect of the film. The Ferris wheel scene was probably my favourite scene of the entire movie. The other guy with a daughter was also a really interesting character, the whole film was about family’s, but it was done in a way I wouldn’t have expected with the whole broker stuff.  Really enjoyed this and I would maybe even watch again. But don’t think I could ever beat seeing it in the cinema, glad I went and watched it. Would recommend to anyone currently looking for a film to watch currently. 8.0/10
