I watched white men can’t jump a while ago and it was a good film, what I liked about it most was the basketball and the interesting way of tackling addiction. The main character was a gambling addict and that was his main flaw that made his life such a mess. This film doesn’t have that, they took the film and took out what made it great, making a kinda cool basketball film where we all got to see if Jack Harlow could act, and I think he did a good job. He was pretty perfect for the role I think, mostly because of his comedic acting being quite good. Was interesting to see him in the role. What the film does to replace the depth lost from cutting out important elements of the original, is we get quite an emotional relationship between Kamal and his father, making his character I think a bit better, however, though I think Sinqua Walls was good in the role, he brought no where near as much as Wesley Snipes did to the original film, making the original character much far superior.
Again I didn’t mind Jack Harlow, but everything about his character was better in the original, his relationship with his girlfriend wasn’t as interesting or important, he also has a happy ending which I don’t think he did in the original. It’s a different film, it’s more happy and a cool basketball film but doesn’t have as much depth as the first one, though I did enjoy watching it nonetheless.
Andrew Schulz was in it and his character was very cringe but it was still a little nice to see him.
To be honest just watch the original, some of my least favourite things about the original aren’t in this so I liked watching it because of that, but also all the things I liked the most aren’t present either which far outweighs the bad, there’s no reason to watch this over the original, except if u were maybe a massive Jack Harlow fan.
