I expected this film to be so bad that it’s good. Turns out it’s just good. The premise is dumb sure but that’s what makes it so brilliant. Somehow they managed to make a pretty morbid plot into a funny, lighthearted, nicely paced romance. I’ve known the plot of this film for a while, probably because of sitcoms. How I met your mother has a whole episode called Weekend at Bernie’s and it was also Rachel’s favourite film in Friends (I’m kind of ashamed that I know that but not really) but I never thought to actually watch it until today and it was way better than I expected. The pacing was really good, I wasn’t bored once. the plot was so stupid that it was funny and the characters had really nice chemistry, even with the dead body. The thing I expected least from this film was when watching it I kinda saw why the characters did what they did, I didn’t expect it to make sense, but it did. Honestly I think it was a really good film and I’d definitely watch it again some day. 8.2/10
