Wake Up Dead Man 2025
Directed by Rian Johnson145 minThriller · Mystery · Comedy
When young priest Jud Duplenticy is sent to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, it’s clear that all is not well in the pews. After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic.

This was really good. The actual mystery I feel was the weakest of all 3 films, yet it’s still just as good as the other two. It is crazy to me that Rian Johnson has managed to make all 3 of these films so great, when the only thing that links them is Benoit Blanc, who isn’t actually that compelling of a character. Daniel Craig does an excellent job of playing him but he is always overshadowed by the excellent cast and characters that Rian is able to set up every single time and I think that is what makes these films so good.
In this case, we have a great supporting cast but Josh O’Connor is the real stand out here. He was incredible and his character was very well written. He definitely made the film.
Josh Brolin was also excellent but we didn’t get much from the rest of the supporting cast that I was so exited to see, particularly Adam Scott who is an incredible actor, wasn’t really utilised well. This differs from the other knives out films that have a stronger supporting cast and a more compelling mystery, but I really think Josh O’Connor’s character was so great it made up for this.
I’m not sure where I would rank this among the other 2 films, they are all equal in my eyes.
