Totally F***ed Up 1993
Directed by Gregg Araki80 minComedy · Drama
Gay, alienated Los Angeles teens have a hard time as their parents kick them out of their homes, they don’t have money, their lovers cheat, and they are harassed by gay-bashers.

1st film of the teenage apocalypse trilogy.
This got a little better the longer it went on. I was kinda bored at the start and wasn’t enjoying all the text and interviews. It had a lot of characters and I don’t think any of them were particularly interesting and none of the acting was that good in my opinion. The overall group of kids were interesting as a collective, seeing their struggles with being gay kids in the 90s, but I don’t think I even have a favourite character because I didn’t really care about any of them individually, maybe the ginger girl was my favourite, but that’s just because she’s likeable she doesn’t really do much in the film.
It felt kinda predictable. I also didn’t really fully get what was going on the entire way through. Not sure why everything was being filmed for example.
It was ok, I didn’t hate it, it felt kinda like if skins was made in the 90s and was about gay people. Seeing them hang out and all go through their issues and stuff was ok to watch but nothing in particular stood out as being really interesting, it was all just ok. Too short to really get to know any of the characters properly or care about them. Maybe if it actually was a tv show it would be better.
Watched my first ever Greg Araki film this year and this was my third. Still disappointed after finding out he directed 13 reasons why. But mysterious skin was really good.
(Ok according to his IMDb he directed 4 episodes of 13 reasons and 1 episode of riverdale)
