It’s like they tried writing sutter as a nice character but miles teller just can’t help play a dick.
This was like the most uncomfortable romance film I’ve ever seen. I feel like I spent the whole film just waiting for something bad to happen. They built Amy up as this amazing, sweet, smart and kind girl who had no character flaws at all and sutter was this troubled, kinda funny, kind of nice and yet kind of a dick played by miles teller, so I just spent this whole film waiting for him to be a dick to Amy and it wasn’t a nice experience.
And then it happened coz of course it happens and then something bad happens and it just made me really annoyed. (If she died i would have turned the film off). Tbh his dad could have been worse.
It was a nice film, I liked the first half, though it felt really weird for a lot of reasons. The second half was kinda interesting because of sutters character but as soon as he was rude to his mum I just completely stopped liking him. I do like that he was nice but a bit of a dick and she was just nice, and though they had a cute relationship he kinda was a bad influence considering she didn’t drink at the start of the film and half way through he bought her a flask. I don’t think it handles the topic of alcoholism well. Sutter is a really interesting character, his relationship with his dad and his he felt as though he was becoming his dad. But yeah I didn’t really relate to the film and it felt very weird to me.
A pretty nice ending.
I wish Bob Odenkirk was my boss.
