Elements of this were better than the first one. Some really good new characters and some really impactful moments.  The stylist guy feels really underused, one of the nicest guys and so cool but gives me better in the book kind of vibes. Not read it so I don’t know.  I like Hunger games, first one sets up the world really well and stands well on its own. This one expands on the world in a really interesting way. The game themselves aren’t that interesting though, there are better characters but it’s a little boring for the actual game even, was way more interesting the first one. This one they just thought monkeys and mist.  What makes this one good though is the world building. Snow vs Katniss. The symbol for the rebellion. Peeta having to fake marry a girl he’s actually in love with. All that stuff was freaky good. I loved the scene when she goes and talks to rues district that was really impactful.  My friend Caitlin made a really good point while watching it that the whole victor tour thing is really messed up. You just watched your family get killed on live tv and the people who killed them going on a tour coming to your home to give a speech. A bit weird. Anyway I think catching fire is better than the first one as a whole but the first one is just more iconic I may like it just as much if not more.  Maze runner is better anyway.  7.4/10  Seeing the end where peeta is gone made me remember what happened to him which gave me flashbacks of skinny peeta which is traumatising to even have pop into my memory that shit was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen at the cinema my whole life. Also omg I just realised Effie is Elizabeth banks and now I can’t I unsee it, that’s so weird
