This was a little disappointing. I’ve been excited to see the fantastic 4 enter the mcu for years and even more excited to see Matt Shakman was the director.  The castings weren’t amazing but after the first couple trailers I still had hope this would be good. It wasn’t terrible, it just fell a little flat. I definitely don’t think it was the right decision to pick up the story years after they became the fantastic 4. It worked for superman, but here I feel like it had a negative impact on all the characters. They all lacked a little depth and had no development throughout the film. The plot was a little boring and forgettable and none of the fight scenes were too memorable.  I liked galactus and silver surfer, it was cool to see them on the big screen. I also liked Ebon’s voice as the thing, but his character wasn’t anywhere near as interesting as he was in the originals. It felt like all of their flaws, the reason their characters are so interesting, were completely absent throughout the movie, which equated to a massive let down.  There’s too much going on in the film and they sacrifice the time it would take to focus on what really makes the characters great. Johnny isn’t funny and Ben seemed like he couldn’t care less about his appearance. These are why the characters are good and that’s the main reason I’m so disappointed.  I still wish Glen Howerton was cast as Reed, but I’m glad it’s not John Krasinski.  5.8/10 After credits  8.8/10
