I thought this was recognised as being one of the worst films of all time but it really wasn’t that bad. Mario and Luigi were cast very well and were very likeable characters and I actually really liked the start of this film. It’s when they go to the mushroom kingdom where this starts to feel like a low budget, made for tv, power rangers movie. Though the likeable cast and the couple of funny jokes made it watchable.  It was a weird choice to have the mushroom kingdom be a dystopian world and I think they could have done this better. But for a live action Mario film, it’d be really hard to make something that’s true to the game and I think they did a good enough job, getting as many references in as possible. The 9/11 bit made me backtrack a little. This film came out before 2001 though, just a weird coincidence that they destroyed the twin towers.  Honestly could have been worse, but obviously still wasn’t that good. Some of the characters could have been adapted better but it was fine.  5.7/10 The score was pretty good too.
