I’ve been too excited for this film for so long now I’ve seen it I feel all empty and stuff. I don’t know if I will ever be this excited for a film again, maybe deadpools mcu debut or daredevils mcu film.  This film was, well it was incredible, but kinda average at the same time. It was everything I wanted it to be yet still painstakingly average.  I was going to try do this without spoilers but I don’t think it’s possible so heavy spoiler alert. Though if you’re like me you’ll be too scared to open any letterbox reviews until you’ve seen the film. IT FUCKING HAPPENED. All the fucking rumours were true. Andrew, Toby and Charlie Cox, everything I wanted in this film, was in this film. It was funny, some of it, like the long drawn out shots of Peter panicking about people knowing he’s Spider-Man, was done pretty well. It was definitely an experience to see at the cinema and I just did it twice in one day back to back. I truly love this film so much, it didn’t exceed my expectations, it just kinda hit them perfectly, I could never have guessed that all the rumours were true though that’s insane.  A lot of what Is good about this film is also kinda a bad thing which is why I’m having a lot of difficulty rating it. The fan service. This film was kinda dumb sometimes, like the memory thing. Honestly everything felt kinda forced, like they weren’t making it to make a good film they were just making it to play with our nostalgia. It didn’t have a real villain, Just all the old ones that weren’t as good as they were originally. Goblin’s cringy Power Rangers style villain didn’t mesh well with this kinda Spider-Man film and I feel like his cheesiness took away from the more dramatic moments, which didn’t happen in his film as the whole thing was kinda cheesy. Max, they made him cool, well they made him just Jamie Foxx, which is a good thing coz the old one looked kinda bad and was dumb, but they sacrificed a lot of his character In making him cool and I kinda liked him more before. Also they never fully explain why he’s cool now. The lizard was awful, I wanted more of connors abs less of the lizard, he was really just there coz they wanted more villains and he really served no other purpose in the film which I thought was a waste. Sandman didn’t really make sense, why was he trying to destroy the box that sends him home when all he wants is to go home to his daughter. Surely its in his best interest to let Peter help him. Also I don’t like that he was just sand the whole time. There was too much CG and it didn’t even look that good. Doc Ock was probably the best but he still wasn’t great, they made him look really stupid.  Andrew and Toby being in it is literally a dream come true. Sure they are old, it could have been done better, the CG wasn’t great, but seeing them talking was one of the coolest film experiences I’ve ever had in my life, so I’m torn between disliking the fan service and absolutely loving the fan service.  The ending was cool. I like how we got our great power responsibility uncle Ben death even if it was done with may. I feel like the grief peter went through with Ben is one of the most important aspects of his character, now peter had that, and no one knows who he is. He has a chance to start fresh on his own with a suit he made himself. Really really cool.  8.6/10 I need to see it a couple more times
