Very simple story with a kind of unlikable main character, except he his played by jay baruchel who is quite likeable. There are way too many side characters, I think if there were a few less then they would be a bit more developed and the film would be a little better. There are a few scenes in this film which are painful to watch, not in a bad way more in a second hand embarrassment kind of way, which I experience a lot with films but the scene where he met her parents was one of the hardest scenes I’ve ever had to get through. (If you’ve watched this film you know exactly why) I don’t think this was a very good film for many reasons, but I kind of liked it. Probably because I relate to the main character in a way and I’m pretty sure I’ve had dreams weirdly similar to this film. Or maybe because I’ve been stuck inside all day doing nothing but (re) watching how I met your mother and a bad comedy/ romance that could have been directed by Judd Apatow is kind of exactly the film for me right now. Or finally coz I just rewatched how to train your dragon (masterpiece) and I really like Jay Baruchel right now. I wouldn’t recommend this to any one mostly because it’s more of a forgettable guilty pleasure that wasn’t actually that good, but if you are bored and you aren’t in the mood to watch a really serious action or drama film, you may as well stick it on, it’s on Netflix.  6.5/10
