Scott Pilgrim vs. the World 2010

I’ve never given a 5 star review so this is a big deal for me. But it’s my favourite film of all time. It deserves it. Scott Pilgrim vs the world is incredible.  The perfect amount of geekiness. The comedy is so geeky. The traditions are insanely cool. Some many subtleties that are amazing.  I love the comic book style.  I love the transitions. I love the camera work.  I love the way they use eyes.  I love the music.  I love the sound.  I love the characters.  I love Ramona.  I love the comedy. I love all the gaming references.  I love the fighting.  I love the actors.  I love the effects.  I love the pacing.  I lesbian this film.  The vegan stuff so funny. Kieran Culkin is funny. The way it uses transitions and camera work as a comedic tool. The music is amazing, the Ramona song is stuck in my head rn. Also “hello again, friend of a friend” Edgar Wright is a genius and he made the best comic book film of all time. ( he nearly directed antman)  This film is just sooo cool and while I’m watching I’m in constant awe of how good it is.  Chris Evans is great, so is Brandon Routh. I like Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Brie Larson I don’t like too much but I love her in this. Anna Kendrick I also love. Great cast.  My favourite film of all time. A lot of people ask me what my favourite film is and I had to decide on one to give to people and this became my default. It’s incredible. I love Edgar Wright’s style of film making so much and it’s meshes perfectly with Scott Pilgrim. 10 seconds in to this film I remembered why it’s my favourite film of all time.  I know I said it already but I love the transitions. Stuff like how the next scene breaks into the one before with a character shouting at Scott for being dumb. Also little cool stuff like “he smacked the highlights out of her hair” and Scott wafting away the I love you from knives. The dumb vegan jokes and dumb jokes from Wallace like “kick her in the balls”. I really love the music in the film but I also love the actual sound effects and music. I love how the musics used to join scenes together, like when Scott is shocked and we get that one bass note and when they’re actually playing in the next scene they call him out for being so distracted that he was only playing one note.  I really love the pacing of this film, it’s very fast and it’s constantly keeping you entertained by throwing new random craziness at you. It never feels too fast though because of the way it all perfectly fits together.  “You once were a vegon, but now you will be gone.”  I love how it uses text for comedy too. Sometimes it was to transition a scene like “moments later” but sometimes it was to go against what a character was saying like when Scott was talking to Ramona about envy.  I could probably talk about this film for longer but I think I’ve explained thoroughly enough why it’s my favourite.  9.6/10
