Ricky Stanicky 2024
Directed by Peter Farrelly114 minComedy
When three childhood best friends pull a prank gone wrong, they invent the imaginary Ricky Stanicky to get them out of trouble. Twenty years later, the trio still uses the nonexistent Ricky as a handy alibi for their immature behavior. But when their spouses and partners get suspicious and demand to finally meet the fabled Mr. Stanicky, the guilty trio decide to hire a washed-up actor and raunchy celebrity impersonator to bring him to life.

John Cena may be one of the most likeable guys in the world and it definitely shows in the characters he plays.
Everyone in this film was really weird. They lie a lot and are definitely in the wrong, but the end of the film kinda justifies it in a way I don’t really think is justifiable. Made it look like they are all good people and they kinda just go with it even though they aren’t. There’s a lot of stuff that it would have been nice to get at the end too, then really becoming friends with Ricky after treating him kinda badly the whole film would have been really nice. Zac Efron having a bit more character development would have been good, it seemed like they were setting it up with his dad and him not wanting kids but that was never really resolved. Also weyndal something, one of the best characters and it felt like they kinda forgot about him half way through the film, could have definitely utilised him more being one of the main characters.
Still a good film tho, watched it for the cast but it was an interesting concept for a comedy. I was really stressed out watching it the whole time as they kept getting deeper in the lie, they are just bad people and it never really redeems them properly but I still didn’t hate them.
Was a fun film. Been a while since I watched a brand new comedy like this. Andrew Santino is a very funny man. Almost as funny as John Cena.
