There once was a pirate known as the Great Gold Pirate Woonan, who obtained almost one-third of the world's gold. Over the course of a few years, the pirate's existence faded, and a legend grew that he disappeared with his gold to a remote island, an island pirates continue to search for. Aboard the Going Merry, Luffy and his crew, starved and reckless, are robbed of their treasure. In an attempt to get it back, they wreck the getaway ship, guided by a young boy named Tobio, who's a captured part of El Drago's pirate crew. El Drago's love for gold has driven him to look for Woonan's island, and thanks to Woonan's treasure map, he finds it. During this time, Luffy's crew have been split up, and despite their own circumstances, they must find a way to stop El Drago from obtaining Woonan's gold.
The animation on this was pretty bad, definitely worse than the actual series, the film felt kinda pointless, like it wasn't too bad but it just felt like a regular episode, but not even a good one, a bad episode. But at least it didn’t feel too long, it felt like watching 2 episodes of one piece. I don’t regret watching it but like I would never watch it again, I hope the films get better coz this was just average, maybe slightly below average. Also there is no dub, but I’m not gonna spend too long complaining about that at the risk of sounding like a fake anime fan, it’s just I watched the show in dub. Boring villains, average story, great characters yet not used to their full potential, don’t watch this, I’ll probably watch the rest of the films at some point but I don’t recommend this one, it was like a short and shitty filler arc, it’s not canon I don’t think so I wouldn’t bother watching it, but if you do, just kinda passes the time I guess, not a complete waste, but then again, there really was no point.
It was ok.... is the nicest thing I think I’ll find myself saying about this film
