On the Count of Three 2021
Directed by Jerrod Carmichael86 minComedy · Crime · Drama
Val has reached a place where he feels the only way out is to end things. But he considers himself a bit of a failure—his effectiveness lacking—so he figures he could use some help. As luck would have it, Val’s best friend, Kevin, is recovering from a failed suicide attempt, so he seems like the perfect partner for executing this double suicide plan. But before they go, they have some unfinished business to attend to.

That was sooo good.
I never really knew much about this film but some reason I’ve been incredibly excited for it ever since it premiered at Sundance. I think it was around a time when I was trying to watch every new film that came out and this one looked the best. But all I knew about it was the plot and poster, though they both seemed really good.
I knew I was excited for a reason though, this was so good I’m seriously tempted to watch it again right now which is something I’ve never done before (by choice).
The final scene was incredibly moving and I loved both the characters. The plot was kinda simple, it’s about two guys who wanna kill themselves so they make a suicide pact but wanna spend one last day on earth before they go. It was emotional and I personally think it was a great representation on depression/ mental health.
There’s a scene where one of the main characters who’s about to kill himself is drinking in the car listening and singing to Papa Roach.
Probably one of my new favourite films. If I don’t watch it now I’ll most likely watch it again some day. Both the main characters were incredibly interesting and again I really loved the final scene and the message behind the film.
There’s more I would say about it but I don’t wanna give anything more away. I would 100% recommend this film. It reminds me of the kind of films I try and make so I found it pretty inspiring.
8.8/10
Gonna try remember Jerrod Carmichael who’s acting was amazing and he also directed the film. And the other lead actor who was also amazing, Christopher Abbott.
