This was everything I wanted it to be and more. I genuinely have a new outlook on horror films now, I loved this so much.
I’ve never been a big fan of horror films. I never really found them scary. I find jumps scares cheap and too easy. Not the biggest fan of slashers. Horror has always been a genre I avoided.
I gave it a go last year and I did gain a bit of respect for them. Only because I watched a couple of films that actually really freaked me out. There weren’t many though, it was mostly hereditary that really got me good. That’s where I learnt the kinda horror film I actually like. The kind that can creep you out so much you genuinely feel scared. One that’s so freaky that you are extra jumpy for the next couple hours. One that’s makes you think twice before entering a dark room when you get home.
This was that film for me. I’ve never been this scared watching a film before and it was incredible. I love that something I know isn’t real can freak me out that much. I finally feel like I get horror now. I finally understand why people love it so much. Watching it in the cinema alone at night really elevated the experience for me as well. It was so terrifying part of me wanted it to be over and the other part didn’t want it to end.
I’m obsessed with curry barker. Been a big fan of his YouTube skit show that’s a bad idea for a while. Him and cooper are hilarious. (Cooper was great in this by the way) I was super happy to see him pop up in my favourite tv show it's always sunny in Philadelphia and I watched his film milk and cereal a while ago and loved that as well. Seeing him make this film and finding out people actually liked it and seeing him all over feed for the last week had me so exited for this, it was like rakka rakka with talk to me all over again.
He did an incredible job directing and even editing this film. I can’t wait to watch his next film with Aaron Paul and his Texas chainsaw massacre film. I think he deserves all the attention he’s getting and more and I can’t wait to watch his career take off.
I also need to talk about Inde Navaratte for a moment. She was one of the main reasons this film was so terrifying. She was so great in this. I really think she deserves an Oscar for this role. One of the best performances I’ve ever seen in a horror film. She really scared the shit out of me.
She didn’t play a ghost or a zombie or a serial killer, yet she was so scary, and I think this is partially due to how great her acting was.
This film really had me on the edge of my seat. Bracing for each jump scare like a drop on a rollercoaster.
I loved it so much that I don’t wanna see it again. At least not alone.
Ending was also perfection. My 11th ever 5 star film.
9.6/10
