I work at a cinema and I saw this before my shift and in the evening I was getting really annoyed coz we were getting people walking out saying “that was shit, I want a refund”. Firstly that’s an idiotic request you don’t eat a whole meal and then ask for your money back just coz you don’t like it, and secondly, I don’t understand how anyone can hate this film that much.
I get not liking it, I personally quite enjoyed it, but it was a bit weird and confusing and dragged a bit, but how can you come out of a film like this and hate it so much you want your money back. The acting, as I’m sure most people would agree considering Daniel Kaluuya is probably one of the best actors of his generation, is fantastic. Keke Palmer is another surprise stand out as I had never heard of her before and I will probably remember her after this. Brandon Perea was great and quite likeable and I also quite like Steven Yeun. Jordan Peele is a creative genius and this was a really interesting take on an alien film.
The monkey stuff was cool but I don’t really understand it’s relevance, I might have to watch it again. I was half expecting the monkey to hop out the UFO (or UAP), it just seemed really important to the plot but never really led to anything, but I’m sure it had some underlying meaning that went over me and my friends heads.
This film felt really meaningful, maybe coz it’s Jordan Peele, but I couldn’t really understand why. I think it’s about animal cruelty in films or about our need as a society to capture everything on camera, but I’m interested to see what other people took from it.
Good film. I do not feel like I deserve a refund at all. Great acting, great cinematography, had a really bright and enjoyable tone. Don’t be put off by any bad reviews, form your own opinion.
