I was against watching this film for a while. I work at a cinema, and I’m sure a lot of you may have seen what was going on at cinemas when minions 2 came out, and yes it was as bad as it looked.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about, a bunch of “hilarious kids”, because it became a meme, decided to show up to the cinema to see minions 2 wearing suits. For the first week half the people in the cinema looked like they were here for their secondary school prom. We had people wearing tuxedos, banana costumes, we even had one guy show up with a briefcase that was filled with bananas.  It didn’t annoy me that much at first, it was a little funny that people actually did it, but kid after kid coming in thinking they were hilarious after I’ve seen 100s of kids before them make the same joke got a little annoying. If you didn’t acknowledge how funny they were they would sometimes get really annoyed, so I would act like none of them wear actually wearing a suit, until it got so bad our managers had to tell us to let every single person going into see minions wearing a suit not to mess around in the screen. So many kids were being kicked out every day. We had people filming the film constantly, because of course they had to document how funny they were for TikTok or Snapchat. We had people screaming and cheering when gru came on the screen and running around the room, up and down the stairs. To make it worse, cleaning the screens was horrible, having to clean up bananas after these kids was just annoying. Sorry I went off on a little rant about how annoyed I am at this film and haven’t even reviewed it yet, but I really didn’t want to watch it due to moral principles, until I told my friend Jennifer she could pick any film she wants and now here we are. Anyway Barbie is out soon, and I know people will be showing up again in suits to watch it, so if you are thinking about doing it, I think it’s funny, but please don’t be like these minion kids. Especially considering Oppenheimer is coming out the same day.  On to the actual review, which will be a lot shorter than my rant about how much I hated working at the cinema during the release of minions 2.  It was better than the first one, I think, don’t really remember it, but this one had gru in it, a character that’s, actually a character, so that made it better. Enjoyed the whole despicable me prequel aspect of this, but don’t think the minions are that interesting. They are funny gag characters, which is why they are so popular, but I don’t think they are funny enough to carry 2 whole films just about them, considering they don’t even talk.  Was a little bored watching this, the relationship between the old guy and gru was nice and kinda wholesome, but feel like they had a chance to make an interesting origin for gru and it fell kinda flat . The villains were boring, there wasn’t much to the plot. Honestly as a kids film it was good, which is fine as that’s who it was made for. But despicable me was so much better.  5.1/10
