Mean Girls 2024

I actually enjoyed this. Maybe mostly as I haven’t seen Mean Girls in a while and mean girls is iconic so even watching what is realistically just a worse version with singing was quite fun.  Funny though there were lots of good scenes and it made me laugh a couple of times. I think my favourite song was either “world burn” or whatever the one is where she’s confronted after her party and there’s a kind of rap. I liked Janis a lot she was by far my favourite character along with Damian, she was so cool and likeable and the best singer out of all of them. I think I always find mean girls hard to watch and Cady becomes quite unlikable at a point but she redeems herself well at the end. The switch to being evil felt a bit too quick though. Honestly I didn’t hate it. The party song was quite good with the “sex cancer” scene. I also laughed a lot at the end when Regina was on meds and the perfect timing where she gets hit by the bus that was funny. A lot of moments made me laugh it was a fun film. my friends afterwords gave reasons for it being bad, like how weird some of the dancing was, but I kinda loved it. I used to hate musicals but I may love them now.  I just think it’s so cool that a film like mean girls gets a musical. People may say it’s uncreative and unoriginal but I think it’s quite impressive and fun to see a remake of a good film with some of the best moments turned into songs. I like that a film like mean girls has gotten this treatment. If u don’t like musicals you don’t gotta watch it, but I think it’s super cool to watch a film I like’s characters break into song and I don’t see why other people don’t think that’s cool. Some of its a bit cringe I get but imagine films like Jurassic park getting musicals, you can always watch the original if u don’t like the music but I think it’d be so funny to see them start dancing away from the dinosaurs. I think mean girls is such a cool film to get made into a musical, I would never have guessed that’d be the film that gets a musical but I’m kinda glad it did.  Seeing the live version next in June. Can’t wait now.  6.3/10 Also how cool is the casting. Jon Hamm. The guy from SNL and Brooklyn nine nine. The mum from himym was funny. Girl from Spider-Man. Wait Lindsey Lohan was the quiz master I didn’t notice. PAM! When tf was Megan Thee Stallion in this I don’t remember her.
