Erin and Garrett are very much in love. When Erin moves to San Francisco to finish her journalism degree and Garrett stays behind in New York to work in the music industry, they gamely keep the romance alive with webcams and frequent-flyer miles. This was about as simple and predictable as you would expect from a film about a long distance relationship. It was extremely generic, and though it was entertaining I do think it was poorly written.
The cast is great though, Justin Long plays a likeable protagonist. He is in a film called accepted that I quite like. Drew Barrymore is normally pretty likeable too and Jason Sudeikis is also pretty cool. The most likeable cast ever that kinda saved the film. We also have the most likeable guy in Hollywood, Charlie day. They really should put him in more films, he brings so much to every film he’s in. This film actually made me laugh out loud a couple times and it was always because of Charlie day, he was the best character in this.
The story again was pretty simple, it was about a long distance relationship, the same kind of thing that’s been used as a plot device for countless sitcoms. Extremely predictable. It also felt like towards the end they kinda gave up on the film. Without spoiling the film for no reason, this film kinda just has no climax. The conflict happens and then there’s a time skip and after one short talk with Charlie day, without showing us how and why all the issues in the film are just resolved and the film ends like 2 minutes later on the most predictable joke ever.
Casting was amazing. Story was too simple.
