Enjoyed this a lot, definitely better than the first one. The opening was very good, very funny, Daniel Craig’s character playing among us with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was quite funny.
The first half was just really nice to watch, it has a great cast and felt very vibrant and colourful. Then the murder scene happens and it starts to feel like a different film. I think the murder scene was done really well and the second half was still good but I didn’t like it as much. Felt a bit too cheesy or unbelievable at times, but the ending with the fire and the Mona Lisa I liked a lot and as a whole it was still a really fun watch.
It felt quite different from the first one, the first one felt more like a classic murder mystery with a slight twist bringing a new element to it. This felt more like a revenge story with a murder mystery theme, it wasn’t just a murder mystery there was a lot more to it. I’m not sure I liked how they played with the murder mystery genre at times, with the whole main character inviting everyone onto the island to solve his murder, but it was still a very good film with a great cast and I enjoyed it much more than the first one.
The covid stuff feels kinda outdated which obviously isn’t much of an issue as I could easily just be watching a film released in 2020. It did feel a little forced and unnecessary though considering they only reference it for like 5 minutes until they reveal this rich guy somehow has some kinda cure for covid he’s not telling anyone about and it’s never mentioned again. That all didn’t have to happen. “You’re good”.

On a 7 day streak with my 1 film a day thing now.
