Fatherhood is a nice film, very emotional and it was pretty funny watching Kevin Hart try raise a kid by himself. It started off as a film about a man who lost his wife, but wanted to take care of his kid on his own. Later on in the film there is a quite sudden and unexpected time skip we’re we getta see an older version of his daughter and it was really cool to see the chemistry between him and his daughter, at that point it became a different kind of film, about not just a man raising his daughter but a daughter growing up without a mother and a father trying to do what’s best for her, which was very sad and the acting was really good. I haven’t watched much Kevin Hart since he started making Jumanjis and Night Schools so I was sceptical about this, but this was different from his usual films, way more sad and serious. I didn’t really like the editing too much, I don’t really think I know how to explain why I didn’t like it, I think it’s just that I felt some of the cuts were kind of unnatural but that could just be me. Some of the side characters were ok, though they were a little plain and they don’t do much, though I did really enjoy seeing the relationship between him and Maddy's grandma, also I liked the girl he starts seeing later on in the film. The film has a really nice ending and it was a great story. Probably one of the best performances from Kevin Hart that I’ve seen.  7.5/10
