Can confirm this was better than the last one
This was alright….. it’s not really fantastic beasts anymore it’s a prequel about Dumbledore and grindelwald. That wouldn’t necessarily be a terrible thing but the first fantastic beast film that was actually about the beasts was the best one. Newt was a great character and though it’s cool to see Dumbledore and hogwarts again, it’s not enough to make this a good film. It was really boring at times and super forgettable. If you are worried about seeing this because of JK Rowling being a weirdo then u may as well not watch it, I really don’t think it’s worth it.
Personally I love Harry Potter and seeing them expand the universe will always be cool (even if they aren’t doing it well). I really want a Marauders TV show or maybe another fantastic beasts film that’s actually about newt and the beasts. Still it was cool seeing Jacob and queenie again, the magical combat is always fun to see, Dumbledore, Aberforth and Grindelwald had a decent yet forgettable story. Other than that there’s nothing else really too noteworthy about it. I usually review films right after seeing them but for this I couldn’t even be bothered until the next morning.
I think part of the problem was because of how forgettable the second film was I was wondering what the hell was going on. Why is queenie a bad guy now when Tf did that happen.
It was pretty much exactly what you’d expect after seeing the last one… maybe a little better but still not good. Watchable tho.
Also although Mads is a great actor I really like Johnny Depp and I feel like he would have been a more relatable character which is kinda what they were tryna do by having him have a relationship with Dumbledore but personally I think changing the actor to someone quite different didn’t work too well for them. But a lot of people love that guy so they may disagree with me I just like Johnny Depp more.
6.5/10
I feel like this deserves a lower rating but for some reason this is what I rated the second film and I can’t give this a lower score.
Fuck it I’m removing half a star
