For anyone who is wondering if the mcu shows matter for this, You don’t really need to watch what if to understand this but it’ll help, it explains what the dark hold is, but if you don’t watch it it doesn’t matter too much. You really do need to see Wanda vision though, you don’t have to but it would be incredibly confusing if you don’t understand wandas motivations as she is the main antagonist. These aren’t necessary and you can still enjoy the film without these, but if you are a big mcu fan and you want to have the best experience possible watching this then I think it’ll be better if you watch both of these.  Sam Raimi’s grand entrance into the mcu. I’m gonna post this the day after I see it as I’m not really allowed to talk about it atm as it was an early screening. But wow, what a cool film. It was very Sam Rami, I think he did a good job and I hope he directs more films in the mcu, I think he was the perfect choice to direct this.  It would have made my job a lot harder if this was a 15, but I felt like it would have made the film better. It very much felt like it wanted to be a 15, and it pushed the limits of a 12A by adding a couple of pretty gruesome deaths, but I think they get away with it by not showing much. It was a 12A horror film where they try and pretend Elizabeth Olsen is scary.  I’m not gonna give spoilers, but honestly there’s not much to spoil, it didn’t have any crazy cameos that people were hoping for except the ones you can guess from the trailer. If you expect your mind to be blown like it was in Spider-Man no way home you will probably be a little disappointed. (Though there was one scene that may do it for u) a lot of the things I was exited for were great but felt a little underwhelming. Scarlet witch was a good villain, though much of the depth for her character very much relies on the events of Wanda vision, though I spoke to some people who hadn’t seen Wanda vision after and they said it made perfect sense.  A new character was introduced and I really liked her though I think she’s gonna be a little forgettable, she didn’t leave a massive impression but added a little depth to doctor strange’s character.  A random noteworthy scene is one where they use musical keys as magic and it was like a music battle, I thought the soundtrack for it was pretty cool. Overall a lot of action, a lot of cool magic, very crazy and very different from the first doctor strange film in good ways and in bad. I think coz there’s so much going on it can’t focus as much on Steven’s character but also there’s so much cool shit going on.  A really good multiverse film, them hopping between multiverses was really cool to see and this film was a very good introduction to this after what happened in Spider-Man. Some of the comedy falls flat, there are jokes that I felt where trying to be like all the other mcu films but I didn’t find it as funny as even the first doctor strange film.  I’m finding it hard to remember much else about it right now but it was just another fun mcu film. That I’m sure most mcu fans will enjoy. Can’t wait to see it again tomorrow.  7.9/10 I’m so not looking forward to working on Friday the cinemas gonna be packed.
