Big Time Adolescence 2019

Directed by Jason Orley91 minComedy · Drama

A seemingly bright and mostly innocent 16-year-old named Mo attempts to navigate high school under the guidance of his best friend Zeke, an unmotivated-yet-charismatic college dropout. Although Zeke genuinely cares about Mo, things start to go awry as he teaches Mo nontraditional life lessons in drug dealing, partying, and dating. Meanwhile, Mo’s well-meaning dad tries to step in and take back the reins of his son’s upbringing.

I guess the moral of this story is don’t be friends with Pete Davidson.  I watched King of Staten Island a few months ago where Pete Davidson basically plays the same character, which in that film was himself. He was pretty much the same in this film so I’m guessing that’s just what he’s like in real life but maybe less immoral. Yeah this was a nice film though, kinda had a lot in common with mid 90s and had a better cast, so if they threw a few skateboards in this movie I probably would have loved it. But yeah found this really interesting, and it had a good soundtrack. It’s about a kid who gets a bit in over his head and starts dealing and treating girls like shit just coz this guy he looks up to tells him to. This guy, (Pete Davidson) is obviously a very bad influence and I think he just liked being looked up to by this kid and it gave him a reason to feel good about himself, yet him being a mess who spends his days getting high and playing video games makes the kid who isn’t suited to the same life style kinda stoop down to his level. I found the characters really fascinating, the main character, the kid that plays the kid in many films I can’t remember and “middle school get me out of here”. He isn’t “cool”, but because he has “cool” friends he thinks he’s cool and takes their advice, so if he was just himself like he said when he brought the girl up to his friends, and not acted like a dick he probably would have spent the end of the film with a girlfriend rather than (spoiler) expelled from school for giving kids drugs. But at the end of the day he gotta have sex with Zeke's girlfriend, so much like with the kid from mid 90s, I think it was all worth it.  Just like to reiterate, sound track was great.  “I got hoeeeees caaaaaling” 7.9/10
