Even if you aren’t really into anime much you have still probably heard of death note right? Bakuman is written by the two who did death note, it’s about the process of making manga and it’s about two kids who follow their dreams of becoming mangakas creating series after series, it’s about motivation, chasing your dream and friendship, and it’s probably my favourite manga ever made. If you’ve never read it this review is probably gonna make no sense.  This film did a good job adapting it, I’ve never watched the anime, straight to the live action but it was really cool to see some of the characters I love (I love like every character in that series) brought to life in a live action. I think one of the most interesting parts of the film was getting to see some of the process of creating manga in real life, it’s very different seeing drawings of people drawing, and actually seeing the drawings in real life, I really enjoyed that aspect of this film. There’s also a lot I didn’t like about it, for example, why did they cut all of the female characters? The one girl they left in, Azuki, wasn’t even done that well as her and Mashiro’s story don’t actually get an ending. But also, where was Iwase? Where was Miss Aoki, (really important character who has a really nice ending in the manga) she was one of the members of team fukada, they can include hiramaru and not her?  And the most important character that wasn’t included, Kaya. She’s Takagi’s wife in the series and the three of them are kinda a team from the very start to the very end, it’s really annoying that they left her out. Her absence also made Takagi kind of boring. Bakuman is great because of the two main characters, but this film seemed to focus more on Mashiro’s story and takagi seemed kinda boring and looked nothing like he did in the manga (no where near as cool).  Other than that, it did a good job at adapting a good chunk of the series into one film. It was cool to watch and I think other than takagi it did a good job of casting some of the characters. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this to anyone, I would definitely recommend the manga, but I kinda just watched this coz I was curious, it was ok. 6.9/10
