Avatar: The Way of Water 2022
Directed by James Cameron192 minAction · Adventure · Science Fiction
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, learn the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

One of my main problems with the first film was the villain was really boring and generic, so was excited to see what conflict they would add to this film, but no, the sky people came back and the same exact villain came back but as a blue person. It felt very lazy and I was disappointed, the villain was made slightly more interesting and more nuanced because of the character spider, who is somehow his son, but I still don’t think he was a very good character.
I think they had too many kids, if they had a few less They could have focused a bit more on each of their characters but there was one too many that none of them stood out or were particularly interesting. It was kind of disappointing because some of the characters had potential but none were utilised fully. It was quite a nice family film, but the ending wasn’t as impactful for me because they didn’t make me care as much about one of his kids in particular. (Spoilers)
The water stuff was so beautiful and one of the reasons I wanted to watch this. I love underwater cinematography in films and all the stuff with the animals and the swimming was really nice to look at and watch.
the film was long. Proud of myself for not falling asleep. Didn’t drag for me too much as I think it was paced well.
I’m a Sucker for films where a guy makes a friendship with an animal especially a water animal (Free Willy)
Bro bro bro bro bro bro bro bro bro. They used that word too much. I think this was made more annoying to me coz I read about it before watching the film, but Jesus learn some new words.
Feel bad for the clan, them taking refuge with them and getting them into trouble was kinda predictable and I don’t like films that do that. Also are we just never gonna hear from their old clan again?
Overall enjoyable watch, felt different from the first film in a good way, a lot less generic and I loved the water stuff a lot. I think sully is a good character. I wish it was even more different from the first film, as the whole stuff with the sky people felt very boring and I wish they had different villains for this film. Would be nice in the third one if the marine guy got a little character development and redemption and I really hope he isn’t the villain again the third time around.
Will probably see the third one in the cinemas. If it comes out in my life time. And if I still get free cinema tickets.
