“TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME SOMETHING I DONT KNOW, SOMETHING I DONT KNOW, SOMETHING I DONT KNOW”
“It’s become so hard, for me to be surprised, bringing back the real me no judgment in your eyes, it’s the way you make me feel, like I’m finding something real”
Watched this film so many times I remembered the words to most of the songs.
Basically the same film as a Cinderella story but with bad dancing, so will be hard to not make this identical to my last review.
Again watched this with my friend Jennifer, right after watching the other one. It’s my mums favourite film so been watching it since I was a kid. Had to write an essay for school recently where I talked about my earliest film memory, I said it was Ice age but now that I think about it it may have been this film, seeing Selena Gomez and telling my mum “she’s hot” may actually be my earliest film memory. This film gave me my first celebrity crush.
The dancing seemed really bad for a film about dancing, but all the characters were quite likeable and i overall like it more than a Cinderella story. Really liked “the funk” and Selena gomez’s best friend character. Joey was ok and I liked some of the songs (not the dancing though).
There’s this really weird scene at the start where the main girl is dancing in front of a window, and joey is there giving a dance lesson, face to face dancing with her on the other side of the glass. People keep trying to dance with him and he shrugs them off and runs back to Selena. It’s kinda romantic until you think about it and realise it’s a one way mirror that she uses to secretly watch the dance class, so for her it’s romantic but from his perspective he’s just a massive narcissist that can’t go 2 minutes without romantically gazing into his reflection.
I think I’m gonna have to watch the another Cinderella story: once upon a song now as I remembered liking that one more because less shit dancing so maybe me and Jen will have to watch that next. Also camp rock kinda follows the same structure and has better music so maybe I’ll watch that too.
last year I said my New Year’s resolution was to watch 1 film a day and now it’s the 13th and all I’ve watched is 2 Cinderella films.
5.3/10
