Last October I tried to watch one horror film a day and I made it 13 days. Ironically the final film I was able to watch before I failed was on Friday 13th and it was Friday the 13th.
I don’t like horror films, there were a couple of ok films I watched last year but overall it was unsuccessful in making me like horror films.
I’m trying again this year and the first film I watched was saw and after watching, it may be the first film that makes me kinda like horror. I loved it. It was actually kind of scary and I loved the whole thing it was so interesting and engaging yet still scary. It didn’t rely on cheap jump scares nor did it just rely on gore. I loved the characters and the story and the cool visual style which felt very unique and a kind of toned down version of the short film that I just watched before I started this. It almost felt like an Edgar Wright film but with scary cuts instead of funny ones, really cool how even the editing felt kind of scary. I think I can genuinely say confidently this is my favourite horror film I’ve ever watched and I even loved the ending and am kind of excited for the second one. I probably should have seen the final twist coming but I didn’t.
Great film honestly, I am exited for another month of horror.
