Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken 2023

Motivational film. I had to travel a long way to watch this and it was worth it. Dream works > Pixar.  Was actually quite a cool story, though predictable at times with very basic fish out of water traits, also it could be a little cheesy, but it was fun and I think the story was actually quite smart. The teenage school aspect to it was quite nice tho has been done too many times in other films with the main character just wanting to fit in as a regular school kid. Ruby Gillman was really dumb, was so obvious the mermaid was playing her. She literally got told by her grandmama that mermaids were evil and even if she did believe that it was a nice mermaid why would she agree to steal the one weapon that could kill her and her family the mermaids reasoning for that was really dumb I dunno why ruby went along with it. Her being smart felt so forced aswell all the trigonometry stuff when she uses the power of maths to destroy the trident it’s so stupid. But nice when the three join together to save the day.  Kept laughing the whole time though it was actually a fun watch. Maybe because I saw this with my friend Jennifer who was laughing before the film even started.  Her review “I was worried I wouldn’t be able to sit and watch this because as soon as the film started I couldn’t stop laughing 🤣for no real reason. I think Kieran was embarrassed or something because he kept telling me to stop laughing…  ” Was fun, I actually did travel a long way for it, wholesome characters, good voice acting. I was excited for this not coz I thought it would be good but thought it would be fun and it was.  5.9/10
