I was very hyped for this. Probably an annoying level of hyped. Wouldn’t shut up about it for a while. Had really unrealistically high expectations. Just from the trailer, the animation looked insanely good and it was, I was smiling the whole film and my expectations were met.
Every frame looked insanely good, the nicest looking film DreamWorks have put out and looks better than anything even Pixar have released. Some of the fight sequences just looked insane.
The villain was very scary and still really likeable and the whole fear of death and being down to his last life was really interesting and made it a lot more than just a beautifully animated film.
Honestly so happy I saw this and I’ll probably see it again, first cinema trip of the year and it’ll be hard to top. Dunno what I have to look forward to now until Mario.
Not the best DreamWorks film as I love how to train your dragon more than anything but it was still incredible and THE ANIMATION!
8.7/10
