The Ksi documentary is finally out. Me and my roommate were pretty excited for this being fans of his because we thought it was directed by Louis Theroux, but he produced it. Ngl I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get the Louis Theroux: Ksi doc I thought I was getting but this was a good documentary I think.  My biggest fear for this was that it’ll be too much about how amazing he is due to his massive ego. I’ve been watching him for a long time, I’ve grown up with him and seen him change as a person. I find it difficult to watch him now, but every now and then I’ll stick on a video as I will always have a connection with him. I think as he started to become more famous and mainstream I kinda stopped caring about him as much, but I know a lot about him and his family so this was something I was interested to watch. I really didn’t want them to focus too much on the boxing or too much on the music, but I feel like they balanced it quite well. It was about his childhood issues and his relationships and did focus a lot on the music, but mostly on his personal connections to some of his songs.  I feel like films like this really don’t get YouTube but this portrayed it in a pretty natural way. I liked the opening and the way they showed any clips from his YouTube channel.  Some of the shots were quite nice looking and cinematic. I don’t think I like the style of interview they went with with the guy talking behind the camera that we never see, but it worked well enough.  My favourite scene that made it a much better film for me was the final scene with his dad. I’ve seen a lot of videos with his dad from ksi but mostly deji. To hear him talk about the difficult relationship they’ve had was interesting. I feel like it’d be difficult to watch as his parent as ksi is pretty brutally honest about the negative aspects of their relationship in the film. But the final scene of them having a very intimate chat was quite nice, it felt very real and like a big moment in their relationship, almost too personal that it felt weird to watch, but it was nice being able to see that aspect of his life.  Stayed up till 6:20 for this.  7.0/10
