While watching this film all I wanted to do was watch the 2010 version, I kept remembering scenes and it kept annoying me how much this film fucked up all the best moments. Also if I hadn’t read the books or seen the other films this would be incredibly forgettable.  Awful film, I only watched it coz diary of a wimpy kid is my childhood. I still remember how good it felt reading them for the first time, weirdly, it got me into reading which got me into writing, so I probably wouldn’t be where I am today, in film school, if it wasn’t for diary of a wimpy kid. So Yh this film being awful really saddens me. It was rushed, they ruined a lot of good moments, the background/side characters made me cringe, and Greg seemed too innocent when he’s meant to be a psychopath. They fucked up haloween, rodrick had one scene, he didn’t even wake Greg up for his first day at middle school, all he did was tell Greg about the cheese touch which should have been chirag. So annoying. Animation was so bad that it feels like they did it on purpose, a film for 5 years olds that are too young to realise how shit it is.  2.0/10
