Your Name. 2016

This may be one of the most beautiful, visually stunning animated films ever made. Your name is incredible.  It kinda doesn’t make any sense at points. Which is mostly fine considering the kind of film it is. But the stuff about all the diary entries being deleted and him losing his memory, then they get into all the time travel stuff which never makes sense anyway.  Probably one of my favourite films of all time. Shinkai’s films are all the best looking films in anime and this one actually has the story almost on par with the animation making it a masterpiece. I love the editing, but I think the pacing is a little annoying at parts. I don’t like the long montages and stuff like that. The film also dragged at little in the final act. The twist is incredible and it effected me so much the first time I watched it, but this is my 4th time now and I still think the film is great. I’ve actually reviewed this before so I could just be saying the same stuff again but I don’t care coz I love talking about how amazing this film is.  I like a silent voice a little more because of the characters and story, but no anime or even animated films can match this and a silent voice, both are incredible. And I do think this film has better animation, some of the scenes of the comet or just the town or Tokyo at night or at sunrise are simply breathtaking. I wish I lived in a shinkai film it looks so much better than real life. Even the animated cigarettes made me want a smoke and I don’t even smoke.  What a film.  8.9/10
