The Perks of Being a Wallflower 2012

½Watched 28 March 2022
One of my favourite films of all time.  A lot of my favourite films of all time people can easily agree with, great pieces of film making, this one tho is more just coz it makes me feel things. I can relate to it. Not all of it, because I haven’t gone through the same traumatic experiences as Charlie. But I relate to being the quiet guy with a lot of problems. The guy with no friends who sits on his own at lunch, who wants to have friends but is too awkward to make them. Charlie is a great character and Logan Lerman is a great actor, his character is so interesting and when he meets his friends who understand him it just makes me feel happy.  Emma Watson is also just amazing. Probably my biggest celebrity crush, I really loved Sam in this film.  Ezra Miller is great, his character is a really cool and really nice guy and I like Ezra Miller as an actor. He is a cool flash, just has been a little unlucky with the dc not being in the best place atm.  The soundtrack in this film actually nearly brings me to tears, David Bowie, the smiths and lots of amazing songs that fit the film so well. When Heroes played at the end all I wanted to do is go on the balcony close my eyes and listen to it with my airpods. (Though my roommate took the balcony key so I can’t get out there. I’m compensating by sitting next to the open window listening to the soundtrack for this film while writing this review. Come on Eileen is playing rn).  I’ve watched this film so many times and I will keep watching it for the rest of my life, I love it, and it’s one of the few films that isn’t just good, but it feels like an experience watching it even on rewatches which is really rare.  This film is emotional, funny sometimes, has amazing music, actors, characters. I get that most people won’t get the same thing out of it as I did, but I’ve watched it so many times and it still makes me happy, which even if it isn’t a masterpiece, that makes it a pretty perfect film for me at least. I hope to one day make a film that someone can feel that way about. (Asleep is playing now and it’s making me really pissed at my roommate for taking the balcony key)  Not much else to say, one of my favourites, I don’t care if you don’t like it. One of the best mental breakdowns I’ve ever seen in film.  9.0/10
