This film is kinda hard to review as it’s not really a real film, and I wanna give it 5 stars because of how amazing it looked, but those 5 stars would only be for the sphere.
In vegas at the moment, this is one of the things I wanted to do the most, the Las Vegas sphere. Can see it from my hotel room, looks so good from the outside, usually either an Xbox or Spider-Man advertisement or a big yellow emoji.
If you don’t know what it is it’s basically a giant dome, with a screen on the outside that is constantly playing something, and on the inside is one of the greatest cinema screens in the entire world.
“Sphere houses a record 160,000-square-foot wraparound LED display on the interior, while the exterior is coated with a record 580,000-square-foot LED display. Both are fully programmable and accommodate 16K-by-16K picture resolution.”
Basically it looks so good everything in front of you looks like it’s actually there. I just saw the Grand Canyon for real and I swear down the one in this film looked better.
The film itself I was super exited for, it’s directed by Darren Aronofsky. It was kinda what I expected, kinda a nothing story, only created to show off how amazing the dome is. Is about humans in space learning about what the world was and how beautiful it was and then why we all destroyed it. Basically a very simple, stop fucking up our planet film, with beautiful shots of nature, wildlife and people from all over the world. It was cool, story was pretty boring and I didn’t listen to any of the voice over but the shots were breathtaking. Was just sitting there for 50 minutes going “woahhh”. Jawdropping. Feel very lucky I got to experience it. The u2 concert looks like it might be a bit better to go see but it also costs like $350 more and it’s an Aronofsky film so I’m happy.
I don’t know if this counts as a film but it’s on Letterboxd and I wanted to talk about it so fuck it. What an experience tho. Would love to see a real film on there one day. One of the best cinematic experiences of my life.
Film 2/10
Sphere 11/10
